TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD/Gray News) - Authorities in Arizona say a confrontation between two groups of people ended with a mass shooting in which several people were injured.

Authorities said the shooting happened early Sunday at Empire Pizza in Tucson.

Police say when officers arrived around 2 a.m., they encountered a male suspect running from the scene.

Officers gave the suspect multiple commands before a uniformed officer fired his department-issued firearm and hit the suspect.

The suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

During the initial shooting, police say nine people suffered gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital. Police said they all suffered critical gunshot wounds to their arms or legs.

No officers were injured during the incident.
