AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – With the addition of American Airlines flights directly to Dallas-Fort Worth from Augusta Regional Airport, some people may be wondering, why now?
Dallas is one of the strongest markets for Augusta Regional, and this isn’t the first time a flight like this will be coming out of AGS. There were flights between the two cities before American Airline’s American Eagle filed for bankruptcy in 2012.
Herbert Judon, the executive director at Augusta Regional, says they have high hopes this time around.
“I think when the airlines see the Dallas flight being successful, that the flight is full and profitable for them, I think it will only help get this additional air service, including Washington, D.C.,” Judon told News 12.
That conversation about D.C. is still ongoing. The airport says they always talk to airlines to add more service to Augusta, but ultimately it’s up to each airline when it comes to adding flights.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- American Airlines will soon offer additional direct flights out of Augusta Regional Airport.
Starting in March of next year, AGS will have daily, nonstop flights to the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
The first flight will take off on March 3rd, and tickets will be available for purchase starting as early as October 8th.
“We are extremely excited about the new DFW flight. The Dallas area is one of the strongest destination markets from Augusta. DFW Airport will also provide our customers connectivity to over 225 domestic and international destinations,” said Mr. Herbert L. Judon, Jr. Airport Executive Director.
"This service is a manifestation of the Airport’s strategic goal of providing additional and diverse air service for our region. I want to especially thank our community for using the Airport and encourage citizens to continue doing so. The more we show demand in our region, the better chance of continuing to expand our service portfolio.”
