Suspect sentenced for Emanuel County murder of nurse
SWAINSBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Charles Justin Davis has been sentenced to life in prison without parole plus 20 years for the murder of Amber Fields, an Emanuel County nurse.
A judge found Davis guilty in a non-jury verdict. In addition to murder, the court found him guilty of aggravated assault, rape and aggravated sodomy, according to the sentencing order signed Oct. 20.
- Malice murder: Guilty; life without parole.
- Felony murder: Guilty; listed as merged with the malice murder count.
- Aggravated assault: Guilty; 20 years to serve consecutively to the malice murder sentence.
- Rape and aggravated sodomy: Guilty; life without parole on each count, concurrent with the malice murder sentence.
The murder happened in December 2025. Fields was found inside her home in the 600 block of North Coleman Street Extension. A family member found her inside the house after she didn’t report for work.
Fields’ mother, Paula, wrote:
“No sentence, no atter how long, will ever bring Amber back or take away the pain and emptiness we live with every single day. That pain will forever be a part of us. As her mother, there are no words to describe the loss of my daughter, and there will never be a day that we don’t wish things had been different but after everything we have endured, I feel that Amber finally received the justice she deserved.
“While nothing can undo what was done or give us back the life that was stolen from her, I pray that this sentence brings some measure of peace and accountability.”
“Amber, you were loved beyond words, and you will never be forgotten. Your life mattered. Your future mattered, And you will forever be missed by those who loved you. We will continue to speak your name, honor your memory, and carry you in our hearts for the rest of our lives.”
