Nancy Mace won’t run for Graham seat; Russell Fry will

COLUMBIA, S.C. - U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace announced she will not run for the U.S. Senate GOP nomination following the death of Sen. Lindsey Graham.

“I’m not running for the Senate - because I have some unfinished business. Since I stood on that House floor, I’ve been fighting for every woman and girl who was told to stay silent. I want justice - and that day is coming,” Mace said in a statement.

The Lowcountry congresswoman had previously run in the GOP gubernatorial race before conceding and endorsing Alan Wilson.

However, Rep. Russell Fry said Monday that he will seek the seat. He represents South Carolina’s 7th District, a post he won in 2022.

The candidate filing period for the GOP nomination runs July 21 through July 28, with the special Republican primary scheduled for Aug. 11.

Also running are Ralph Norman, Duke Buckner and Mark Lynch.
