Coroner’s office investigates death of 40-year-old Augusta woman

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Richmond County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of a 40-year-old woman.

Coroner Mark Bowen says his office responded to Second Street and Watkins Street on Monday in reference to a death.

Bowen confirms the body of Asia Smalls, of Augusta, was found in the yard behind the Church the Lord Jesus Christ building, 145 Watkins Street.

Smalls was pronounced dead at 8:43 a.m., according to Bowen.

An autopsy has been scheduled.
