Aiken day care worker arrested after toddler allegedly kicked at Sunshine House

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - An Aiken day care worker is facing a charge after a mother reportedly saw her toddler being kicked in class.

Natalie B. Meyers, 19, was charged on Feb. 28 with one count of cruelty to children, according to inmate bookings.

According to the incident report, on Feb. 18, officers received a complaint from the father who said the alleged incident happened on Feb. 12 at Sunshine House, 109 Summerwood Way.

The report states the mother viewed the day care worker kicking their toddler on in-class security camera footage.

The parents later attempted to view Sunshine House’s footage but were denied, according to the report.

Sunshine House later informed the parents that the worker had been fired.

Meyers has since been released on a $465.00 surety bond from the Aiken County Detention Center on March 1.

This isn’t the first time local Sunshine House locations have faced allegations.

• In 2025, an Aiken day care worker was arrested after she was accused of child abuse, according to officials.
• In 2021, a North Augusta woman was charged with assaulting a child while working at the Sunshine House day care in Aiken. In that case, we heard from the mother of the child, who wanted the word out to make sure this did not happen again.
