PHOTOS: ‘Ice missile’ flies off truck, crashes into S.C. woman’s windshield

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Some roads in South Carolina are still dangerous following Sunday’s winter ice storm and one woman in Greenville got to see it first hand.

On Tuesday, Lana Love had to leave her home with her mom and young daughter to pick up medication from Publix.

She had just gotten off Pelham Road and onto I-85 southbound when a brick of ice from a truck’s roof flew off and hit her windshield.

Due to the ice shattering the passenger side, Love said her mom screamed and her seven-year-old hit underneath her blankets and started to cry.

Love, who saw the moment the ice started flying towards her, said she couldn’t avoid it.

The woman mentioned that the truck was about five cars ahead of her but yet it still hit her.

As winter temperatures drop, families across Augusta face a harsh reality: choosing between essential needs.

“Please be careful,” the woman posted on social media. “It’s still icy in some parts and people are flying.”

In South Carolina, it is illegal to drive with snow or ice on your vehicle that obstructs your view or poses a hazard to others, according to the South Carolina Department Public Safety.
