Daily Forecast | From First Alert Meteorologist Tim Strong
Clouds & sun, drier today. Seasonal highs into Thursday. Cooler and wet into the weekend.
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Today looks like a drier day with partly cloudy skies and highs near 90. We are expecting a steady wind out of the northeast as Erin passes well off the Southeast coast. Gusts could get to 15-20 mph - nothing more than a nice summer breeze for the CSRA.
The wettest weather of the week ahead will likely be late Thursday through Saturday, as a ridge of high pressure aloft is replaced by a trough of low pressure.
Thursday looks mostly dry during the day with highs in the low 90s. Storm chances will increase later in the evening into Thursday night as our next front moves into the region.
A stalled front over the CSRA will bring scattered to numerous showers and storms Friday and Saturday. Highs will be much cooler in the mid-80s thanks to clouds and higher storm chances. There is a marginal flood risk across the region both days. Localized flooding will be possible - mainly for flood prone areas.
We are expecting a cool down next week as another cold front pushes through next Monday. Highs will drop to the mid-80s most days next week with lows in the 60s. Keep it here for updates!
We also continue to track Hurricane Erin. The forecast from the National Hurricane Center remains constant keeping the storm away from the U.S. coast, although high surf and dangerous rip currents can be expected along the Carolina, Georgia and Florida coast.
