CINCINNATI (WXIX/Gray News) - Sparks flew from a cargo plane during a rough attempted landing at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Video shows a Kalitta Air cargo plane experiencing a “tail skid” during an attempted landing Sunday, according to the company’s Chief Operating Officer Heath Nicholl.

Nicholl said the plane was doing a go-around after attempting to land at the airport. It was during the go-around that the tail skid happened.

Sparks can be seen flying from the back of the plane before it ascends back into the air.

The flight landed safely shortly thereafter, and there were no injuries to the crew.

Nicholl said the aircraft has been removed from service to be inspected and evaluated.

“The event is under review, and we do not have any additional information to provide at this time,” Nicholl said.
