Suspect arrested in smash-and-grab burglary in Richmond County

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Authorities have arrested a suspected who was wanted in connection with a smash-and-grab burglary in Augusta.

Deputies say 58-year-old Myron Edwards was arrested on Wednesday in the incident. He is charged with smash and grab burglary.

According to deputies, the incident happened on Sunday at Liquor Stop, located at 4003 Harper Franklin Avenue.

The incident report states a brick was used to break the glass door of the business.

The report states a Black man wearing a blue and red shirt, black shorts and gray shoes threw the brick through the door and walked inside.

The man then walked behind the counter and stole Newport cigarettes, vape devices and alcohol, according to the report.

The report says the front door repair would cost $1,000.
