52-year-old dies after crash on Windsor Spring Road

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Richmond County Coroner’s Office has identified the person who died after a crash on Windsor Spring Road Friday morning.

52-year-old Cassandra Courtney Sharpe, from Lexington, S.C., died as a result of the crash.

Richmond County deputies went to the scene of the crash on the 3500 block of Windsor Spring Road.

Deputies say the vehicle was traveling north and ran off the road onto the right shoulder. The vehicle then crossed the road onto the left shoulder and struck a brick sign.

Officials say the vehicle overturned, and Sharpe was partially ejected from the vehicle.

Details revealed in officer-involved shooting on Connector Road

Aiken County deputies are on scene of an officer-involved shooting on Connector Road.

Sharpe was pronounced dead at 9:40 a.m., according to the coroner’s office.

This is the third “serious” crash in Richmond County in less than three days.

On Thursday, a 17-year-old driving a possibly stolen vehicle was critically injured after fleeing Richmond County deputies, crashing near I-520 and running into interstate traffic.

On Wednesday morning, Richmond County deputies responded to another crash on Barton Chapel Road, which turned out to be deadly.

According to data provided by the sheriff’s office, traffic collisions in Richmond County decreased by 3% in the past year, from 10,672 in 2024 to 10,402 in 2025.

The more significant decrease came with a 43% in traffic fatalities in the county. Fatalities dropped from 44 in 2024 to 25 in 2025.
