2-month-old baby at center of Amber Alert found safe, police say
The boy was taken by his father in Rex, Georgia.
REX, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A 2-month-old boy who was abducted from Clayton County that initiated an Amber Alert on Tuesday has been found safe in Nashville.
The child’s father, 25-year-old Tariq Williams, was arrested in connection with the abduction in Tennessee, according to the Clayton County Police Department.
Police said Williams is believed to have assaulted the child’s mother and taken her silver 2017 Volkswagen Passat.
Williams is accused of kidnapping, false imprisonment, simple battery, theft by taking a motor vehicle, interference with a 911 call and third-degree cruelty to children.
What is an Amber Alert?: An Amber Alert is activated in the most serious child abduction cases, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The goal is to “instantly galvanize the community to assist in the search for and safe recovery of a missing child‚” the organization’s website says.
