(CNN) -- A Florida man took a dangerous plunge Tuesday, and it was all caught on camera.

He was captured on surveillance video jumping into a pond filled with crocodiles, but that’s not even the most shocking part of the story.

It all happened at an animal farm in St. Augustine, Florida. The man was in the enclosure for hours, and the video shows he jumps right into the water.

"Crazy. Absolutely crazy,” said one tourist. “How could somebody be so stupid?"

All the workers at the farm found the next morning was a pair of shorts and Crocs – the shoes. They thought it was just a prank until they saw blood, then called police. That’s when they looked back at the footage.

The man, who turns out to be very lucky, was attacked by one of the 12-foot crocodiles before he was seen trying to get over a fence to escape. Neighbors found the man limping around the neighborhood the next day, mumbling about being held captive.

"I think his thing was he kept saying, 'I was held hostage in a place that a pool with gators.'"

The suspect is being treated at an area hospital. None of the animals were harmed as a result of the incident.
