AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Richmond County deputies are looking for the person who shot and killed 45-year-old Carl Trimble in his car on Wednesday.
Angle Pine is one of Trimble's cousins, and she said Trimble's car ran into his own house on Sullivan Road after he was shot. Pine said she never expected to receive a call like this about her cousin.
"Shocked. Disbelief, like where did this even come from because he doesn't bother anyone," Pine said.
Pine said she and her family now have to bury one of their loved ones sooner than they expected.
"No one wants to bury anyone, but this is just not normal," Pine said. "And the way it happened, maybe if it was like an illness or something like that, but for someone to take his life like that, no."
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office said they got a call about shots fired around noon off Sullivan Road. When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Trimble dead in his car with a gunshot wound.
Sheena Trimble is also a cousin of Carl. She said Carl grew up off Sullivan road in his dad's house across the street, and all the neighbors knew him
"That was his childhood area. He knew everyone over there," Trimble said. "Anybody that knows him can tell you he basically stays to himself."
Pine and Trimble said their cousin worked at Savannah River Site. They said he would work and come home to relax, but that was taken away from him today, and he was taken away from them.
"When you kill one person, you are not killing just that person, you are killing a father, a son, a brother, a cousin," Pine said. "You are killing the family."
