Work set to begin on Star Park in Edgefield County
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Work is set to start on a new park in Edgefield County after a groundbreaking celebration Wednesday afternoon.
The recreation complex, called Star Park, will cost more than $2 million. It will span nine acres and should be ready to open by May. The park will be next to the county’s law enforcement complex.
Plans include a football field, a basketball court and six pickleball courts.
Bill Clyburn and Bill Hixon of the South Carolina House of Representatives spoke at the event.
“We’re getting more people coming to Edgefield County, and they expect services. And we as the House of Representatives, two members, we expect to be able to help them to supply the means and what the citizens want. It’s the taxpayer dollars going right here for a great thing to entertain the children.”
