Darline Graham says she intends to run for full Senate term

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Sen. Darline Graham now says she intends to run for a full term after being appointed to replace her late brother, Lindsey.

In a clip from an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity posted Monday, Graham said she was “in” when asked if she would consider a campaign.

“I’ve been praying a lot, talking to my family,” she said in part. “But with the love of my family, with the support of his staff, I know I’m a hard worker. I learned that from Lindsey. He cared about the people of this state. I’ve worked for almost 30 years for the people of this state.”

“I feel like I can do it. I feel an inner peace about it,” she continued.

Graham then said she had made a decision: “I’m in.”

The news comes days after President Donald Trump offered his endorsement to Graham, who at that time had not publicly made a decision.

Four other candidates - U.S. Reps. Russell Fry and Ralph Norman, as well as Duke Buckner and Mark Lynch - have each announced their intention to run in the August Republican primary.

Filing for the primary opens on July 21, with the primary scheduled for Aug. 11.
