‘My baby needs justice’: Ga. mom speaks of boy’s fatal mauling

VALDOSTA, Ga. - A mom in Georgia is speaking out after her 2-year-old son was killed by two Rottweilers while in the care of an unlicensed day care provider.

Police say 2-year-old Kaimir Jones was left unattended for more than two hours inside the home on Oct. 4.

According to investigators, 48-year-old day care operator Stacy Wheeler Cobb had fallen asleep, leaving the child unsupervised.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office responded to Neeses Lake in Wagener after two cars crashed into the water.

During that time, authorities believe Kaimir managed to leave the house and open a kennel where two Rottweilers were kept. The dogs killed him before Cobb discovered what had happened, officials said.

Cobb was taken into custody and is now facing multiple felony charges, including second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to children.

“This is a horrible and tragic event that should have never occurred,” Valdosta police said in a statement on social media. “A mother has tragically lost a child.”

Kaimir’s mother, Adrianna Jones, is now pleading for accountability and remembrance.

“My baby needs justice,” Jones said tearfully. “Please promise me to keep my baby’s name alive. He deserves it.”

Valdosta Police Chief Leslie Manahan confirmed the case remains an active investigation with several unanswered questions, including how the toddler was able to access and open the kennel.

Jones’ parents, who were present during her interview, said they want justice, not only for their grandson, but also for other families who may unknowingly trust unlicensed caregivers.

“No family should ever have to feel this kind of pain,” Kaimir’s grandfather said. “We trusted someone to protect him, not put him in harm’s way.”
