Midville police officer arrested in domestic incident

WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A Midville police officer has been arrested in connection with a domestic dispute.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ahmed Sattar Ismael after a dispute that was reported at 2:20 p.m. Thursday, according to authorities.

Ismael’s wife said the dispute stemmed from a demand for the couple’s marriage license, allegedly due to the victim’s recent request for a divorce.

According to the victim, Ismael’s behavior escalated when she could not produce the document.

She provided investigators with an audio recording of the incident, which reportedly captured Ismael yelling profanities, making multiple threats to her life in the presence of their child, and brandishing what is believed to have been his service firearm while continuing to argue, according to authorities.

Investigators with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office along with Midville Police Chief C.J. Green made contact with Ismael at the Midville Police Department headquarters.

Ismael was interviewed and arrested.

Ismael is currently being held at the Burke County Detention Center.

Ismael has been charged with terroristic threats and acts, pointing or aiming a gun at another and cruelty to children third degree.
