Evans Memorial Day event honors fallen soldiers

EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - In the CSRA, Memorial Day is full of events honoring the lives of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

On Monday, local veterans remembered fallen service members at an event hosted by Veterans of Foreign Wars.

We caught up with a member of post 12-190 who says we should treasure the stories of veterans for years to come.

“Sit down and talk with the veterans in your life and learn their stories, write them down and share them so we don’t forget who these great servicemen are,” said Jason Tisdale.

He says this was a good time for everyone to reflect on their sacrifice.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Cynthia Stein said: “As a lot of these soldiers age out and eventually, they will be a memory for us. It’s important that we bring more soldiers into these organizations so that we can continue to share that, which we have something in common.”
