AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- He's one of the most famous alumni to come out of Glenn Hills High School, Michael Curry.
After his college basketball playing days, he ended up as a coach in the NBA. Now, back in the college ranks.
On Tuesday, Curry returned home for a huge honor.
Glenn Hills officially opening their new gym and will dedicate it to Curry.
The Spartan great took time out from a busy college season to be back where it all started. He's never forgotten his roots and has been at numerous sporting events in the past. Heck, last year, he was a volunteer coach. Tuesday afternoon, it was the ultimate icing on the cake from the community that raised him.
"A lot of people have had their hands in on a lot of the success that I've had. I've always tried to come back and embrace them and give them thanks and give back to the young people that are here. Hopefully, I provide a good opportunity for them, as well," Curry said.
Curry is back in the college coaching ranks and is in his first year at Florida Atlantic. He signed Butler standout Don Coleman to a scholarship this season.
