August 10, 2015 MCCORMICK, SC-- Welcome back to the head coaching ranks. Earlier this year, Russ Schneider left Fox Creek football, stepping away for health reasons. Though, the desire to coach didn't go away.

For Schneider, another opportunity opened up this offseason. That opportunity was at McCormick High School.

Set to be an assistant before, Schneider took over the Chiefs program after Sean Thom left. What he inherited was a team that played for a region title against his own Fox Creek Predators just last year.

There's a lot of talent at McCormick. None bigger than sophomore running back Mateo Durant. No reason to believe Durant can't get the Chiefs close to a title.

"We feel like some things are going to change in a positive direction. We're excited about where the program could go...hopefully quick or soon, but we'll see. Something special is going on," Schneider said.

"We all just bought in to his system and now we're ready to go play and try to get to state," senior Danny Holmes said.
