AIKEN, S.C. – The No. 6 University of South Carolina Aiken men's basketball team posted a 109-87 win over Young Harris Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers are now 19-1 overall and 13-1 in league play. The Mountain Lions are 9-10 overall and 7-6 against PBC competition.
Head coach Mark Vanderslice's team was paced by Xzavier Barmore's game-high 24 points. Faison Brock added a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds while Doniel Dean tallied 20 points and a game-best eight assists.
Kyle Tackeberry came off the bench to hit for 15 points while Robert Hill accounted for a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards.
The Pacers led from start to finish, holding a 7-0 lead at the first media time-out. USC Aiken pushed its advantage to 19 at 49-30 in the first half en route to a 55-37 lead at the break.
Vanderslice's team extended the margin to 24 (63-39) early in the second half and never let the Mountain Lions get closer than 13 the rest of the way (68-55).
For the game, USC Aiken buried 43-of-76 attempts from the floor (56.6 percent), including 15-of-33 from downtown (45.5 percent). The squad out-rebounded the visitors 45-39. USC Aiken also dished out 28 assists on the 43 made field goals.
The 109 points scored marked the fifth most in the program's Division II history. The 43 made field goals is third most while the 15 three-point baskets are the fifth-most in the program's Division II history.
The Pacers return to action Wednesday when they host Francis Marion at 7:30 p.m.
