AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The Augusta men are making a lot of noise on the Division II college basketball scene.
Winners of 10 straight, the Jags clinched the Peach Belt regular season title over the weekend and now they're ready to make a run in the PBC Tournament.
AU has been solid all year, but they're definitely playng their best ball right now.
The Jags say the turning point to the season, came after their home loss to rival, USC Aiken five weeks ago. Since then, the guys have been knocking down shots with ease and are committed to giving it their all on defense.
The Jags will have a great chance in the post-season, if they keep playing their brand of basketball.
"Just doing what we've been doing, working hard on defense, communicating, playing together. Having fun really, that's when we play our best basketball. Getting stops, running the floor, get dunks, threes, all that kind of stuff. Just enjoying ourselves," senior forward, Deane Williams said.
"Playing together, playing defense. Just trusting one another. But always coming out with energy and enthusiasm. Everything else will take care of itself," senior guard, Aaron Byrd said.
"We've done this before. Three seniors, this is our second time doing this. So, we know what it takes to be here. I wouldn't say extra confidence. But we are confident, because we know what we can do. It's just about going out there and executing now," senior forward, Tyvez Monroe said.
Top-seeded AU will host Columbus State this Wednesday to open up Peach Belt Tournament play. If the Jags win, they'll host the next round as well.
