AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The Josey girl's basketball team only suffered five losses during the 2017 season. But those five losses, came at the hands of their cross-town rival, Laney.
With their core group of girls back, the Eagles are ready to run the table this year.
The girls have faced stiff competition so far, losing two of their first three games, to 6A Valdosta and to 4A Luella, both of whom made runs in their respective state tournaments last season.
For the Eagles, it's a new year, but they've got the same attitude. With a state championship appearance under their belt, the Eagles are taking the right steps to get back to the big stage.
"It's all about being focused like I said. We've got to stay consistent through everything we do. If we really want it. We have to do everything in our power to get it," senior guard, Moesha Mells said.
"The goal was to try to play as many tough teams as we can early. Give ourselves some challenges. Give us an identity early, see where we were. We got exactly what we needed with those two losses. It kind of gave us everything we need to see as far as to work on," head coach, Jawan Bailey said.
One thing josey says it can always improve on, team chemistry.
The girls are back in action tomorrow, taking on Westside.
