AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- It pretty much became a two person show on the back nine this afternoon.

In the end, it's the top ranked amateur in the world, Jennifer Kupcho, holding the trophy as the champion and making history.

"It's always a great feeling to win. I don't think it's set in yet. It probably won't set in for a little while. But I think to win at Augusta National, just to get to walk the fairways and walk up 18 with as many fans as there were, it's an experience like none other." said Jennifer Kupcho

While Kupcho was a history maker on the course, her and Maria Fassi's duel on the back nine was fun to watch. While the outcome didn't go Fassi's way, she handled everything with grace and dignity.

"Winning would have been, the extra, but I think just the opportunity to be out here and to be in contention and be in the last group, and have the amount of people following, that was amazing!" said Maria Fassi.

This week transcended the game of golf. While there can only be one winner on the course, off the course, the sport and every young women taking part were the true winners.

"We've had everything from talking to Hall of Fame golf pannels to getting to play Augusta Natonal, so it's just been incredible." said Alice Hewson.

A lifetime of memories jammed into a single week.

"I mean, it was unreal walking around the golf course today. I had so much fun, I mean I couldn't stop smiling for the first six holes (laughs)"said Amanda Doherty

Anyway you spell it, this tournament was a huge success.

The inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur, proved to be a cornerstone for golf and the young ladies who will follow suit in years to come.
