AUGUSTA, Ga (WRDW/WAGT) -- For many, this has been what they've been waiting for -- a chance to tee it up at Augusta National.

"It's just like it's hard to explain in words because I never expected it to be that special" said Ana Belac.

"You know the golf course, TV doesn't do it justice. It's so much better in person, it's awesome" said Amanda Doherty

Today, practice and for most, the first time they've stepped foot on the golf course. While there were no patrons here to watch, there were still some butterflies.

"I think my hands were shaking on my first tee shot, but the course is awesome. as I think we all know" Caterina Don said.

Clemson's Alice Hewson has actually played a couple of rounds before today at the National and that could swing things in her favor a bit.

"I think it is a bit of an advantage. Augusta can be suchd a prestigous place that you can be walking down the fairways complete in awe of where we are" said Alice Hewson.

The focus now is still not just to be history, but to make it as the first ever Augusta National Women's Amateur champion.

"Yeah I think it'll be cool to see how it plays for us versus to how it plays for the Masters. I think it'll be a lot of fun" said Jennifer Kupcho.
