AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- The Augusta Boxing Club has produced the likes of Rayonta Whitfield and Justin DeLoach. Now, up-and-coming boxer, Deondre Walker is hoping to be the next guy to make waves on the national stage.

Walker is well on his way after recently winning the Georgia Golden Glove Championship. Now he's set to compete in the regionals this week.

It's been a long time coming for Walker, as this is the furthest he's ever gone and it's the next step towards pursuing a pro career with the gloves.

"There's a lot of talent up there. I have to go up there and do my best and try to bring it back home to Augsuta. I love boxing. It's just my life. It's my world. It's what I eat, sleep. So, I have to go out there and do my best," Deondre Walker said.

If he wins the regional tournament, he'll qualify for the Golden Glove Nationals. From there he'll decide if he's ready to turn pro.
