AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- On the diamond, Cross Creek has helped develop some of the area's top talent over the years.
Since 2017, the program's seen two of its players drafted straight out of high school -- the latest being David Hollie.
The outfielder was selcted by the Kansas City Royals in 2018. Now he's gearing up for his first full season in the minors.
Since being drafted, Hollie's worked on making some adjustments to his game -- nameley reading and reacting to the ball faster.
He says he's learned a lot during rookie ball in the summer, and is ready to hit the ground running for spring training.
"The ball comes out a lot faster. It's like grown men hitting lines drives to you. You have to say you're here for a reason. Like you're actually there for a reason. You're a young guy. But, you can compete with these guys," David Hollie said.
Hollie's projected to start the 2019 season in rookie ball with Burlington.
