AIKEN, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Aiken baseball team finished off a three-game sweep of Lincoln Memorial Sunday afternoon with a 6-5 victory.

The Pacers are now 3-0 on the year while the Railsplitters are 0-3.

Head coach Kenny Thomas' team was led by Alex Mills, who belted out three hits, including the walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth. Chandler Rogers also had three hits, including a double. Rogers scored twice.

Joey Smithers and Conner Durden had a pair of hits each. Smithers scored twice while Durden had one RBI and scored once.

USC Aiken jumped on top in the first inning when Durden doubled in Smithers, who had reached on a single before swiping second. Blake Bottomley pushed the margin to 2-0 on a double. With two down in the second, Smithers walked and swiped second before scoring on Philip Watcher's single. Watcher came around to score on an error off a Durden single, making it 4-0.

LMU battled back to take a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh inning, but Thomas' squad equaled the contest quickly. Scott Huntley came in as a pinch hitter and promptly singled to center field, scoring Rogers who had reached on a one-out double.

Rogers singled to lead off the ninth with the score tied at 5-5. Huntley bunted him over to second base. With two down, Smithers was intentionally walked. Trey Polewski drew a base on balls to load the bases. Mills faced a full count and ripped a single up the middle for the game-winner.

For the game, Daniel Wiggins worked 1.1 frames of relief while picking up the win. Garvin Alston Jr. started the contest. He worked 4.1 frames and struck out four.

The Pacers return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 5, when they play at Erskine. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
