ATLANTA, GA (WRDW/WAGT) -- Former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams will serve as a Grand Marshal in Atlanta's Gay Pride Parade.
In a video posted to her Twitter account, Abrams said it was an honor to be chosen after 50 years of work from the LGBTQ community.
"We've come a long way on that journey," Abrams said. "But Americans can still be fired from their jobs simply because of who they are, or who they love."
🌈The spirit of #Stonewall50 lives in all of us, and I will continue to be your ally every step of the way, using my voice to lift up others. Happy #Pride, and see you in the parade!🌈 pic.twitter.com/INb0apRWZ6— Stacey Abrams (@staceyabrams) June 7, 2019
Abrams' star continues to rise in Democratic circles as she mulls another shot at the Governor's Mansion in 2022 or a potential presidential run in 2020.
