PELION, S.C. (AP) — Authorities in South Carolina say they've charged an 11-year-old boy who's accused of threatening to kill a middle school classmate.
The State reports that Lexington School District One said in a news release that a sixth grader had to be restrained by school officials as he attempted to attack a 12-year-old boy at Pelion Middle School on Friday. The district said the child tried to attack the student because he thought the student had threatened to put his hands around his friend's neck.
The Lexington County Sheriff's office said in a Sunday news release they found the 11-year-old student threatened to kill the 12-year-old during the exchange.
The boy was released to his parents and must appear in family court.
The district says he's been suspended and faces expulsion.
