AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- A Richmond County deputy who was stabbed by a suspect won't be charged in his death.

Back in November, Deputy Stephen Psillos shot and killed Jack Darrel Fields, 24, after he was attacked by the man.

Sheriff Roundtree said Deputy Psillos' left shoulder was injured due to being stabbed. The deputy also suffered a laceration to the scalp.

RCSO Deputies did respond to backup and CPR was administered but the suspect died at the scene.
