AUGUSTA, Ga, (WRDW/WAGT) -- The Richmond County Marshal's Office is mourning the loss of Corporal Al Robinson.
The Marshal's Office posted about it on their Facebook page: "It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our friend and coworker Corporal Al Robinson. We ask that you please keep his family, both blood and blue, in your thoughts and prayers."
Robinson started with the Marshal’s Office in January 2015. He was promoted Corporal on January 25, 2019, just four days before he passed away.
Robinson was a 34 year veteran of law enforcement. According to Grovetown Mayor Gary Jones, Robinson also served the city of Grovetown for 24 years and retired as the Director of Public Safety before joining the Marshal's Office.
"He leaves behind a strong family that he loved tremendously, as well as many many brothers and sisters that served alongside him in the law enforcement arena," said Jones in a Facebook post.
Funeral arrangements have been made for Robinson. The visitation is happening Friday, February 1 at 1:30-2:00 P.M. at the Thomas L. King Funeral Home on Davis Road. A memorial service will happen immediately following at 2:00 P.M
