CNN -- Social media was buzzing over the weekend with calls for action after the airing of Lifetime's documentary series 'Surviving R. Kelly.'

Kelly has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing since he first faced allegations of abuse, predatory behavior, and pedophilia dating back to 1994.

But the series may have sparked new legal trouble for Kelly.

An attorney for Joycelyn Savage, one of Kelly's accusers, says the district attorney for Fulton County, Georgia is investigating Kelly for incidents that allegedly took place at his Atlanta-area home in 2017.

Officials did not confirm an open investigation.

The Lifetime documentary dug into the singer's personal and professional life, featuring stories of women who say they were abused at his hands.

Kelly's legal representation told billboard the allegations are false and suggested the accusers are defaming Kelly for personal gain.
