RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – According to officials, five members of the Laney High School boys basketball team were allegedly smoking marijuana in their hotel room during a playoff game on March 1.

The alleged incident happened in Milledgeville. The team was there March 1-2 for a playoff game.

The RCSS Public Safety Chief was made aware of this but it was not in his jurisdiction. It was handled by the Milledgeville Police Department and they did not file charges.

The students were still allowed to play in the playoff game but are facing student disciplinary action by the school district.
