CANDLER COUNTY, Ga. (CNN) -- A property owner in Georgia is being charged with animal cruelty after approximately 165 dogs were found living in filth.

Authorities rescued German Shepherds from a Candler County property last week.

The Atlanta Humane Society has taken some of those animals in and, because there were so many, other places are pitching in to help.

They're hoping to nurse the dogs back to health and help them find loving homes.
