Mall shoplifting suspect in custody after getting tased by police

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- A shoplifting suspect is in custody after getting tased by police at the Augusta Mall.

Richmond County deputies tell News 12 a deputy working a special duty assignment at the Augusta Mall confronted a shoplifting suspect, and a struggle ensued.

During the struggle, 51-year-old Carson Bolt pulled out a firearm. Deputies were able to quickly disarm him and tased him to get him into custody.

Bolt is being treated at a local hospital for injuries from the struggle and will be taken to Charles B. Webster Detention Center and charged with Misdemeanor Theft by Shoplifting, Felony Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

More charges may be pending. There were no injuries to the deputy or other security staff.
