After delays, Southbound is ready to fire up the grill at SRP Park.

AUGUSTA, GA (WRDW/WAGT) -- After an entire season and long wait, Southbound at SRP Park is finally open.

Even at their soft opening last week, crowds were massive, and they're expecting more of the same Friday night.

It's been a long time coming, but after 7 months of extra waiting, Southbound in Riverside Village is firing up the grill.

Owners Brian Brittingham and George Claussen say they wanted their new project to be perfect. The new restaurant is two floors with five different outdoor seating areas.

They also have a partnership with Sweetwater Brewing who have created exclusive brews, including the GreenJacket Ale, only found here. Both men say all of this isn't just for them but for the community.

They hope being a part of the new river community, and having locations on both sides of the river, will promote business collaboration.

"The synergy that's created, and the amount of -- you know -- momentum that both sides of the river and this whole area have right now is pretty amazing," one of the owners said.

They say possibilities, not just for their business, but for all the new things popping up on the water, seem endless.

"That, to us, is a bigger draw," one of the owners said. "As happy as we are to be a part of the stadium, we are even happier to be on the Savannah River."
