Georgia-Pacific in Thomson to shut down permanently after massive fire

THOMSON, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- One week after a massive fire took the building, Georgia-Pacific in Thomson is shutting its doors for good.

According to officials, they will not be taking steps to rebuild the building.

About 100 employees will be affected by the decision, but the company says they will ensure all employees will be paid all earned wages and benefits.
