Deadly single-car crash on Dry Branch Road

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT)— Aiken County officials are investigating a deadly single-car crash on Dry Branch Road. The driver died on scene.

According to the Aiken County Coroner’s office, Mario Gilbert died from blunt force trauma. The crash happened Sunday morning around 1:30 a.m.

Investigators say the 36-year-old driver was the only occupant in a 1999 Toyota. The car was on Dry Branch Road headed towards Whiskey Road when it ran off the road and hit a tree.

Gilbert was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash.

A toxicology report is pending.

South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating.
