AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- A local church got in the Super Bowl spirit. Dozens of members at Moses Missionary Baptist Church showed up wearing jerseys of their favorite NFL team.
There was an impressive variety of jerseys at the service, people repping the Dolphins, the Ravens, the Patriots, the Rams and of course -- the Atlanta Falcons, too.
Sundays in the South for most are spent at church with a choir, arms raised high, and a pastor preaching.
But this Sunday in the South wasn't just any Sunday, of course. It was Super Bowl Sunday.
If you didn't know better, you'd think this jersey wearing congregation was side-by-side in their pews at Mercedes Benz Stadium.
"Nobody is more loyal, more dedicated, and more represented at Moses today than the Atlanta Falcons," said one passionate member as others cheered.
But this congregation is pre-gaming in the wooden pews at Moses Missionary Baptist.
"Our church is big on the Atlanta Falcons," said Pastor Jamaal Wilcher.
So...you know what that means.
"I was pretty much forbidden from wearing a Patriots jersey," said Wilcher.
Falcons fans or not -- everyone is welcome at Moses.
"The corporate church is all of us in here today," said Wilcher during his sermon.
It was fitting that Sunday's message -- like they teach on the football field -- was all about teamwork.
"Football is the name of the game here at Moses," said Wilcher.
And it's the name of the game on Sundays in the South, too.
