NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WRDW/WAGT) – The Border Bash is back in South Carolina, but this time it’s at SRP Park.
The new stadium could be the center for North Augusta as it keeps growing.
It’s just another event helping North Augusta grow.
Salon 512 opened up on Georgia Avenue a little more than a year ago.
"I did come to this location,” owner Gabby Peters said. “I was close to where I was at. But I knew that the river would be getting new upgrades and new businesses. I was hopeful that energy would come up here."
Peters seems to be ahead of the curve.
A few new businesses are popping up around downtown, including Vikki’s Boutique, which just opened up a few weeks ago.
Events at SRP Park are only helping.
“I know a lot of baseball people have been coming to get baseball t-shirts, earrings and all the baseball stuff we have here. That's definitely helped us a lot having the SRP Park here,” said Emily Estes, owner of Vikki’s Boutique.
North Augusta Forward, a local nonprofit, is working with a revitalization group to keep the area growing.
The organization owns an empty carpet shop where they plan to add a co-working space, retail, or even a rooftop restaurant.
And with the Border Bash expecting to bring more than 5,000 people downtown, organizer Joe Stevenson couldn't be happier.
"It’s a great setup,” Stevenson said. “North Augusta is the perfect location for people to stop in and take in the culture of the area."
Border Bash organizers are hoping for a larger turnout with the new location. We’re told The Swinging Medallions and The Embers will be the musical acts this year.
This is event is to raise money for Children's Charities of the CSRA.
