Deadly crash and car fire blocks lanes Sunday at Highway 25

UPDATE | 2:45 p.m.

BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Highway 25 North is back open after a crash that killed one person.

Georgia State Patrol says a driver was traveling northbound on Highway 25 when the driver went off the road through the median, across the southbound lane into a tree line.

GSP tells us witnesses saw multiple bystanders try to rescue the driver, but the car went on fire.

GSP is investigating and the Burke County Sheriff's Office assisted with diverting traffic. Lanes were blocked for about 40 minutes.

BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- One person is dead after a crash on Highway 25 North, Burke County deputies say.

The name of the victim will not be released until the family is notified. We will keep you updated.

BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- Burke County officials say Highway 25 North is closed due to a serious crash with injuries where a car is on fire.

Georgia State Patrol is also working the wreck. Traffic is being diverted from Gresham Road to Four Points Road.
