EDGEFIELD COUNTY, SC (WRDW/WAGT) – Seven people were shot this weekend in three counties, and today we’re learning that one of those was at a graduation party in Edgefield County.

The shooting happened Saturday at a house party off Moores Drive.

According to a flier, the party was supposed to be like the movie “Project X,” a film where perform wild stunts.

Partygoers say a couple hundred people showed up all to celebrate Strom Thurmond High School seniors. They're getting ready for Friday's graduation while one teen is recovering in the hospital.

"I’m just sorry this happened,” said the grandmother of the student who hosted the party. “It was unexpected. We weren’t looking for this. They was just wanting to have a little fun. Ain’t nobody expect for that to happen."

Police say multiple shots were fired. One bullet hit a 19-year-old. That teen called 911 for help. Meanwhile, partygoers fled the scene as deputies arrived to it.

The wounded teen had to have surgery and they do expect her to recover.

“It’s crazy,” one person said. “It just really doesn’t make any sense.”

The epic party was masked in confusion and chaos and it left only more for investigators who are still trying to find answers.
