Students name Aiken Co. bloodhound team puppies

AIKEN, S.C. -- The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office announced the names for the newest batch of puppies for the Aiken Bloodhound Tracking Team.

Students from Aiken County elementary schools submitted names to help in the Pin the Pups Name Contest. The names were announced by Sheriff Michael Hunt Thursday morning.

The six names selected are Hunter, Diesel, Beau, Cloe, Casey and Frankie (3 males and 3 females). The name Frankie was submitted in memory of Lt. Michael Frank who was killed in an accident three years ago. The puppies were born Oct. to Bonnie.

Schools submitting names included East Aiken, Belvedere, Chukker Creek, Millbrook, Gloverville, Clearwater, North Augusta, Hammond Hill, J.D. Lever, North Aiken and Warrenville Elementary schools. Schools will be contacted to arrange a visit by the winning classes with the new puppies.

The Sheriff’s Office is also training two 8-month-old puppies, Red and Sadie, from Beaufort County. Both will be joining the Aiken Bloodhound Tracking Team.
