AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW) -- A former Silver Bluff High School safety monitor is facing charges of sexual conduct with minors.

According to arrest warrants for Richard Jeffery, he was arrested after a complainant came forward claiming he had sex with a woman 14 to 16 years old between 1998 and 2001.

Jeffery was arrested Thursday. Aiken County School officials confirms Jeffery was put on administrative leave without pay in May when they learned of the investigation.

Officials say the incident did not involve a student and did not happen on schools grounds. According to documents by the sheriff's office, the complainant says the sexual assault resulted in her having a child.

Jeffrey was first employed with the Aiken County Public Schools as a bus driver in August of 2004. In March of 2005, he began working at Silver Bluff High School as a safety monitor.
