COLUMBIA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) -- In Columbia, Dawn Staley and the USA Women's Basketball National Team got training camp underway.
There were a few familiar faces on hand. Former Gamecocks, Allisha Gray, Tiffany Mitchell and A'ja Wilson, along with current USC player, Tyasha Harris competing for a spot on the World Cup team.
Wilson is coming off her first WNBA season, in which she was named the league's rookie of the year.
She went from dominating the college game to making noise at the pro level in the matter of the months. Even with her first WNBA season under her belt, everything still feels like a dream.
"Honestly it's kind of hard to believe that I was even playing college basketball in March and then in August I was a professional athlete. I really don't know," Wilson said. "I don't know how I'm doing it. I'm so blessed that my job is basketball. I wake up everyday and I know that I'm so happy to be like that. It's not the easiest thing. But, you kind of keep going."
Following these two days of practice, Team USA will compete in a Red-White intra-squad exhibition at Colonial Life Arena on Wednesday.
