Football camps this summer have drawn the most area alumni back to their old stomping grounds over the summer. Richmond Academy hosted a basketball All-Star alumni game Saturday that brought back NBA hopeful Tommy Williams back to the river region.
Eight schools in total took part in the alumni games. Williams has been playing in the G-League over the last two years with the Erie Bayhawks (New Orleans Pelicans) and is still waiting for his chance in the NBA. It's been an adjustment for Williams as he's still getting used to the business mentality in professional sports.
Business mentality aside, Williams is always happy to come back to Augusta. He's also got some extra motivation as he continues following his dream to the NBA.
"My family, my son, and my loved ones. Like, you know, especially my son," said Williams. "I have a little one year old. I love him to death and he keeps me going. He let's me know things will get better."
Williams is currently preparing for the next G-League combine. It will give him a chance to get another look from teams and scouts who may have overlooked him in the past as the RCA and Augusta University alum continues to pursue a career in the NBA.
