AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) -- When you think of a team who played for a state championship a year ago, and returned most of its talent, the word underrated probably isn't the first thing that comes to mind.

But that's how the Josey girls feel.

And they've been playing like they've got something to prove all season. It's working out pretty nicely for them.

The Eagles are one of the only area girls basketball teams still alive in the playoffs. As they prepare for another Elite 8 appearance, Josey is still playing with that chip on their shoulder.

"We've just been underdogs pretty much. We're just trying to, not only prove it to ourselves, but prove it to other people that we're as good as we think we are. That's what we're trying to go out and do," head coach, Jawan Bailey said.

"We embraced it. I would say we took that as disrespect, honestly. Because, it's like all the girls we have on our team are talented in different ways. It's like, ya'll counting us out?" senior guard, Jakiya Walker said. "We mainly took it as disrespect, and just gave us motivation to come to practice and work hard. Any game, we're coming out, basically trying to bust people in the butt,"
