ATHENS, Ga. -- After putting up big numbers over rival Georgia Tech and Temple University, Georgia senior forward Yante Maten inked Southeastern Conference Player of the week, the league office announced.

Against the Jackets and Owls, Maten averaged 27 points, nine rebounds, and shot 56.7 percent from the floor.

In the Dawgs biggest win over the Jackets in rivalry history -- 80-59 -- Maten tallied 24 points. Maten was even more explosive over Temple, with a season-high 30 points, and 12 rebounds. His impact pushed the Dawgs to win 84-66.

Maten's performance against Temple was just this third 30-point-plus and ten-rebound-plus performance in his career, according to UGA.

The forward is averaging 19.2 points and nine rebounds per game.

Georgia is currently 9-2 on the season, matching Mark Fox's best 11-game start in his nine seasons.

Conference play is quickly approaching - the Dawgs host Ole Miss on Wednesday, and Alabama on Sunday.
